    My life has been a long and winding road with a variety of bumps and junctions, including losing my parents at a young age, suffering overwhelming anxiety and stress, experiencing domestic abuse and always feeling somewhere between completely lost and acting a part in a real-life soap opera. I know what it feels like to wake up day after day, year after year, wishing my life was different and not knowing how to change it. 

    When I discovered coaching my life changed beyond recognition. I hired a Coach and began to work out who I am and why I’m here on this wonderful planet. I found the passion, direction and purpose that I’d been looking for all my life.

    Having experienced the difference that having a Life Coach can make, I decided to train to be one myself. As I started to work helping others, I discovered that it brought me a wonderful fulfilment that I had never experienced before. I developed my learning further and studied Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I found that applying the principles of ACT to myself took me to another even higher level of peace and enjoyment in my own experience of life. I wanted to extend this into my work helping others, so trained as an ACT Therapist.

    Because of my past experiences, I’m passionate about helping people whose lives are impacted and influenced by the lasting effects of domestic abuse. Although people can start afresh outwardly, with a new home, job etc, they can continue to carry the effects of the abuse inwardly for years, potentially the rest of their lives, which can hugely impact their enjoyment of living.

    After working closely with domestic abuse charities in my local area for a few years, I was honoured to be asked to become a Trustee of one, Dawn’s New Horizon, based in the Sprowston area of Norwich, UK. Through my work with charities and in my private practice, I have helped many people to transform their lives from merely surviving day to day, to thriving and really enjoying the opportunities that their new life chapter brings them.

    My vision is to help you transform your life from merely surviving day to day, to thriving and reaching your full potential; to help you move on from ‘fire-fighting’ your way through life, to growing, flourishing and thriving. Working with me, you will find a safe and supportive space to grow into who you truly are deep in your heart; where you will practice using new tools to help you create the lasting change you want. Along our journey together you'll work out who you really are, how you want to show up every day and what you want to get from your wonderful one-time gift called life.

    Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    When you live by the principles of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, you accept what’s out of your control and commit to action that improves your life. It helps you live a much more rich, full & meaningful life while accepting the pain that inevitably goes with it. 

    By learning how to incorporate ACT into your life, you can get out of your own way and be the person who you really are deep in your heart, whether that's as an individual in your own life or as a professional in your work helping others. 

    How I work with ACT
    I work using ACT in two ways: with individuals on a 1 to 1 basis and in groups with Coaches / Therapists / Health Professionals. See below for further information.


    In sessions you will learn new skills which will help you improve your quality and enjoyment of life. You will form new habits and ways of being that will enable you to be resilient when you encounter the stresses and challenges that life will inevitably throw at you. It will help you understand who you truly are in your heart, what is important to you and how you want to show up in your life so you have a clear purpose and direction as you go forward. 


    Create a bespoke toolkit so you can create new habits and behaviours

    Enable self-acceptance and (re)connection with self

    Understand and harness the power of your personal values

    Enable self-value and responsibility

    Understand your passion and purpose

    Create goals for your future and an action plan to make them happen.


    Core Elements of 1 to 1 ACT Therapy Sessions

    There are six core processes of ACT which we will explore during our sessions.

    Acceptance: Be emotionally open without clinging or avoiding.

    Defusion: Notice what you’re thinking, take what’s useful and leave the rest.

    Present Moment: Bring your attention to the present moment in a way that’s flexible, fluid and voluntary. Having the ability to switch off from living on auto-pilot to fully engage.

    Values: Work out how you want to show up in your life. Be true to what is in your heart and bring meaning and purpose into your life. Values are the qualities you want to reveal in your life moments.

    Committed Action: Choose to build habits around what brings your life meaning and purpose.

    Self As Context: Awareness of your true consistent inner self. The spark that makes you the individual unique person that you are. 


    I offer an initial FREE no-obligation discovery call to explore whether we could be a good team to get you moving toward what you want.


    I run an online ACT Peer Practice Group every 2 weeks on a Wednesday at 5pm (UK time), and these are listed on the MindFreeks Calendar.


    The event is for Practitioners to come together and practice using ACT tools and techniques as well as using ACT 'language'. ACT is a 'doing' therapy, rather than just talking, so being able to practice the experiential exercises is really helpful, helping the Practitioner build competency and confidence.

    The event is open to any Coach / Therapist / Health Professional who wants to incorporate ACT into their work helping others, so will be attended by others outside this community.

    More than a fantastic, calm, logical, compassionate coach with not only a listening ear but a very open and embracing heart. Annette is an amazing lady.
